We are halfway through the year and if you are anything like most women I know, you have probably spent the past few months putting everyone else first - kids, work, house, pets, packed lunches, packed bags… the list goes on.

Now let me ask you something, when was the last time you were at the top of your to do list?

If your answer is somewhere between “err…” and “I can’t remember”, don’t worry you are not alone, but it might be time for a little mid year reset. Investing in yourself does not have to mean a fancy spa day or a retreat in Bali (although I’m not saying no to either of those 😍). Sometimes it is the small things that help you feel like you again.

Why summer burnout is real

This season can be a strange mix of fun and frazzle. School holidays are looming, routines go out the window, and there is pressure to make the most of the sunshine even if you are exhausted and just want to sit in a quiet room with a fan and a cold drink.

Your energy might feel low, your mood a bit meh and your nails or skin might be showing signs of stress too.

5 Simple Ways to Press Reset This Summer

Here are five totally doable ways to start investing in yourself right now, no retreat required.

1. Book That Appointment You Keep Putting Off

A facial, massage, lash lift or nail treatment is not “just a treat”, it is time out to unwind, breathe and let someone take care of you for a change.

2. Create a 10 Minute Evening Ritual

Light a candle, do a bit of gentle stretching or simply lay with your legs up the wall. Switch off your phone and reconnect with calm.

3. Try a Little Nail or Skin TLC at Home

Pop on a nourishing hand cream before bed, treat your cuticles or apply a soothing face mask. These tiny rituals can be the start of reconnecting with yourself again.

4. Step Outside for 5 Minutes of Sunshine

Even if it is just a cup of tea on the patio, sunshine boosts mood, regulates sleep and helps you feel grounded. You do not need a 10K hike to feel better.

5. Treat Yourself Like You Matter (Because You Do)

Whether it is saying no to something, asking for help or booking time just for you, honour the fact that you can’t pour from an empty cup.

This is Your Reminder

You deserve to feel good, to feel cared for and to feel calm. Taking an hour out for a massage, a lash lift or a nourishing nail treatment isn’t indulgent, it is essential. Don't forget what a relaxed version of you feels like.
