How to combat dry, dull winter skin: Your essential skincare guide

Winter is here and if your your skin is feeling tight, flaky and dull, you are not alone! Cold weather outside and central heating inside are a double whammy for our skin, robbing it of precious moisture. Many of my clients struggle with this during the winter months and trust me, there is nothing worse than feeling like your skin is dehydrated.

No fear, there is hope, a few simple changes and the right treatments, will get your skin back to being hydrated, healthy and glowing. Take a look at my top tips for keeping winter dryness at bay.

  1. Switch to a Richer Moisturiser

If you are still using your lightweight summer lotion, now is the time to give your skin something more nourishing. A thicker cream with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, shea butter or glycerin will create a protective barrier and keep your skin feeling soft and smooth.

A Tip From Me: Apply your moisturiser while your skin is still slightly damp after cleansing to help lock in hydration.

As part of my winter routine, I also apply a rich hydrating serum under my moisturiser for an extra boost. Think of it as a big hug for your skin!

  1. Gently Exfoliate to Bring Back Glow

Dry, flaky skin can leave your complexion looking dull and tired. Gentle exfoliation removes dead skin cells to allow your moisturiser to do a better job. Avoid harsh scrubs that can irritate sensitive winter skin. I recommend enzyme based exfoliants or products with fine, soft beads for a gentle touch.

A Tip From Me: Exfoliate once or twice a week. Overdoing it can make dry skin worse. Always think less is more.

My clients love the feel of soft skin after a facial exfoliation, there is something satisfying about bringing back that healthy glow.

  1. Stay Hydrated from the Inside Out

We all know that drinking water is good for us, but it is easy to forget in winter when hot drinks feel more comforting. It is so important to stay hydrated to keep skin plump and fresh, try drinking herbal teas or warm lemon throughout the day.

A Tip From Me: Central heating zaps moisture forn the air making your skin work overtime to stay hydrated. Keep a glass of water nearby while you cozy up indoors.

  1. Treat yourself to a Luxurious Hydrating Facial

This is where I get excited because there is nothing like a professional facial to rescue winter skin. At Radiant Rose Beauty Room, my facials are deeply hydrating and replenishes your skin, using award winning, natural and organic skincare. All facials are customised to suit your skin needs, be that a calming nourishment or a moisture surge.

Did You Know: Even five minutes of a gentle facial massage can boost circulation and brighten your complexion. Imagine what a full, relaxing facial can do!

Self care is powerful!

  1. Don't forget SPF

It may be cold and gloomy, but UV rays do not take a holiday in winter. Protecting your skin with a broad spectrum SPF is essential to prevent sun damage and premature ageing. It is like an invisible superhero shield, fighting off sunspots and wrinkles even on cloudy days.

Time to Glow Again

You deserve to feel confident in your skin, no matter the season. A hydrating facial is not just a treat, it is an investment to your skin's health and happiness. Book your relaxing facial today and experience the joy of radiant, winter proof skin.
